ABOUT US 

DJ Handmade was first launched during COVID, when the world came to a standstill and Juan D began following her inner voice, creating handmade jewellery as a way to stay connected to herself.

At 30, Juan made one of the biggest decisions of her life: moving from China to Canada to pursue a professional education in jewellery making. After two years of intensive, hands-on study in metal, gemstones, and traditional jewellery techniques, she returned to her own jewellery practice—this time bringing everything she had learned into the process, while continuing to explore the boundaries between different materials.

As a creator and maker—and as someone highly sensitive to the world around her—Juan sees jewellery as a unique language between the mind and the body. An inspiration begins in the mind, takes shape through the hands, and becomes a piece of jewellery that carries a concept rooted in self-compassion: something that offers the wearer not only beauty, but also a sense of strength and authenticity.

Passionate about antique and vintage treasures, especially second-hand and vintage fashion, Juan brings her love of colour, texture, embroidery, and textiles into the world of DJ Handmade.

Materials are intentionally sourced and collected over the years. Some collections, including custom-made editions, are available only in limited quantities because of the rarity of the materials.

Every piece is handmade with heart in a home studio in Toronto, Canada.
